TAQA’s operations in Europe are based in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and focus on strategic energy infrastructure projects, including gas storages and energy innovations, and the full cycle of oil and gas operations, from exploration and production through to decommissioning.
Donald Taylor was appointed Managing Director for TAQA’s European oil and gas business in November 2016. Joining TAQA in July 2009, Donald previously held the roles of Operations Director, HSSEQ Director and Production Manager. During his 34-year career in the oil and gas industry he has held various key positions both offshore and onshore working for Maersk, BHP Petroleum and Conoco (UK) Ltd.
Donald is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Glasgow.
René Zwanepol serves as the Country Manager for TAQA in the Netherlands, a position he has held since July 2015, covering upstream oil and gas as well as gas storage activities.
Joining TAQA in March 2013, René became responsible for Finance, Commercial and Business Support functions until he was appointed Country Manager in 2015. Prior to TAQA, he spent 20 years with Royal Dutch Shell, of which 17 years was spent overseas in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East in various finance and commercial related roles. He also served as the CFO of a large family-owned business in the Netherlands with activities worldwide.
René is a tax lawyer with an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
